Shravan: The ‘no non-veg’ auspicious month

Eating non-vegetarian food is avoided for both scientific and religious reasons during Shravan.
Shravan, the fifth month of Hindu calendar is observed to be a 'no non-veg' month.
The 27th of July 2014 marks the beginning of the month of Shravan, this year.

The scientific reasons include:
Avoiding Rain-borne diseases - the general hygiene is bad during this month
and there are more chances of being infected.
Another reason is that the immunity power is low during this month. As such, it is advised to avoid
non-vegetarian and also spicy and oily food during this month.
Religiously, Shravan is considered to be the holiest month of the Hindu calendar and is
packed with various festivals and ceremonies.

On a lighter note, this cartoon is a teasing kick for all non-vegetarians.
